December 2024 – The Dark Side of AI, YearCompass, The Hamper Project
December Insights Email
The Dark Side of AI, YearCompass, The Hamper Project
Happy December, friends.
You’ll notice this month’s Email looks and feels a little different. We’ve seen tremendous growth in subscribers over the last 7 months. To better handle this, I’m moving ‘365 Insights’ to ActiveCampaign’s email platform. Let me know what you think of the change!
Everything else will stay the same – relevant, timely articles curated by me, selected to bring value to you in your role as a local leader or executive. If at any point this content isn’t resonating and you’d like to be removed from future mailings, just reply with a ‘not for me’.
As this will be our last issue of ‘Insights’ for 2024, let me thank you all for reading. I truly enjoy putting these together each month and look forward to continuing to do so in 2025. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyous holiday season along with health and happiness for the New Year.

Cybersecurity / Technology Articles
ChatGPT, the leading generative AI platform just turned 2 years old, and the hype around AI is showing no signs of slowing down. Already, over 40% of Americans have used AI – an adoption rate twice as fast as the Internet when it was introduced. Big tech is pouring billions of dollars of investment into the technology, betting on promises of improved productivity and efficiency.
But…
As with any technology, we are already seeing examples of AI’s dark side. Here are two stories from the last month along this theme. In the first, a robot convinces 12 other robots in a factory to quit their jobs (seriously). The second looks at the creation of pro-anorexia chat bots as coaches for disordered eating. Scary stuff.

Leadership & Personal Growth
While I’m not much for New Year’s Resolutions, I do like being intentional about the year ahead. This means reviewing the past year, celebrating wins and acknowledging losses; setting goals for the coming year (career, family, personal); and ensuring that I’m putting plans in place to achieve them.
For the past few years, the tool that I use to do this is YearCompass. It’s a downloadable booklet that walks you through closing out this year and planning the next – and it’s completely free!

Partner Spotlight – Holiday Edition – The Hamper Project
A special holiday edition of our partner spotlight for December. Ally Beauchesne is a busy mom and realtor who has taken it upon herself to give to people in need here in Winnipeg at Christmas. Last year, Ally assembled and delivered 70 incredible hampers with the help of family, friends, and corporate supporters like 365 Technologies. My family had the opportunity to deliver some hampers and see first hand the gratitude of those receiving them.
Ally’s goal for this year is 100 hampers. If you’re looking for a way to make an impact this holiday season in our community, this is a great way to do it. You can help in one of two ways:
Purchase Items from the Hamper Project Amazon Wishlist (Items delivered directly to Ally); or
Send an E-Transfer with your donation to Ally.beauchesne@gmail.com
Upcoming Events
As you can guess, business events are pretty light over the next 4 weeks, taking a back seat to holiday parties. I have heard that this year’s Zoo Lights at the Assiniboine Park Zoo is pretty spectacular.
Alternatively, you can pile the family in the car with some snacks and hot chocolate and use this handy Winnipeg Christmas Lights Map 2024 to go check out some decorated homes.
